6 Months

Happy 1/2 Birthday to Coleton! At 6 months, Coleton...
  • weighs about 16 pounds
  • is eating cereal very well with a spoon. We start solids soon!
  • recognizes us. It's so sweet to see him light up or smile at someone he knows (especially when it's me!)
  • rolls front to back ALL the time!
  • tries to sit up by himself in his stroller, high chair, or if reclined back against you. He can even sustain prop sitting (propped up on both arms) briefly!
  • chews on his fingers constantly! He HAS to be teething but we surely don't feel anything in his gums.
  • enjoys his excersaucer and only needs to be propped up a little bit now that he's gotten tall enough.
  • LOVES bath time. I seriously need to figure out how to add video to the blog, because it is hilarious to see him play in the tub!
  • is finally growing hair!! It seems small amounts of new fuzz appears on the top of his head everyday. So far, it's still dark.
  • laughs so easily. He has even started to notice the dogs, and laughs at Tanner all the time. All Tanner has to do is walk by Coleton, sniff his feet, or sometimes just look at him, and the boy starts to crack up. It's so sweet and funny!
  • is a dare devil! Our little man loves to be thrown up in the air (by Daddy of course) or any other adventurous activity.
  • has gotten off his night-time schedule, thanks to the bronchitis and his new ability to roll onto his tummy. Right now, either his coughing or rolling cause him to wake up several times a night. Plus we're still doing a feeding (formula) in the middle of the night. No, my 6 month old doesn't sleep through the night... yes, I've read several books about schedules, routines, etc. We have a routine; we have a schedule; he doesn't sleep through the night. Let's leave it at that - our time is coming! :)

Coleton, you continue to melt our hearts everyday and we can't imagine life without you. You are so much fun and just the greatest blessing to us! You are such a good baby; we could not have asked God for more! We love you so much!

*Coleton's 6 month check-up isn't actually until early next month due to scheduling issues, so I'll keep everyone posted when the time comes.

Buddies

I am so thankful that Coleton has a buddy that is so close to him in age. I pray that he and George will be life long friends. Here are some pictures taken today after Coleton's baptism.

Notice the hand holding above; they did that on their own!
I love how they're looking at each other. Such sweet boys!

Coleton's Baptism Day

Coleton was baptized this morning and he was such a perfect baby during the service! He was so alert and content while being held by Rev. Agnes (Norfleet) during the baptism and when meeting the congregation while everyone sang "Jesus Loves Me". It was such a precious and sweet moment that I will never forget! My heart has been filled with such gratitude for this wonderful blessing we've been given! I am also so thankful for our family that was there to support us - we love you all!

Coleton, you are a precious child of God. Your Daddy and I made some big promises today, and with God's help, we'll work hard to keep them! We love you so much!

*PS - Don't you love his white seersucker outfit that Gram made?

Bronchitis

Little man developed a rough cough over the weekend, especially yesterday (but seemed to enjoy his first Easter despite it). After a phone call today to the nurses line, Clif took him to see Dr. Cope. Coleton has been diagnosed with mild bronchitis and was given a breathing treatment in the office (without much success). Basically we were told to play the wait it out game...easy enough to say when its not your child who sounds like he's coughing up a lung.

*Update on 5/13/11: After a 2nd trip to the doctor two weeks later, Coleton was still coughing frequently but appeared to be getting better (according to Dr. Cope). Today he still has a cough, but it doesn't sound as bad and isn't as frequent. Still playing the waiting game though!

Happy Easter!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!!

Living, He loved me.
Dying, He saved me.
Buried, He carried my sins far away.
Rising, He justified freely forever.
One day He's coming, Oh glorious day!

New Pics

Kat was in town in February and took some awesome pictures of Coleton at 3 months.
(yes, I'm a little late posting them!)
Check out her website and blog - she does AWESOME work and we LOVE her!

Our session took place on the USC Horseshoe with some vintage suitcases for props.
Here are just a few of my favorites!

Isn't he so handsome?! :)
And I used Shutterfly to make a photo book - check it out below to see more pictures.

5 Months

Another month has come and gone! At 5 months, Coleton...
  • weighs ~15 pounds (he weighed 14.8 lbs at his sick visit for his ear infection on 4/1)
  • loves sucking on his toes, especially when lying on his back or in his bouncy seat. He did this for the first time on 3/12 while sitting in the bouncer
  • likes hanging out with his buddy George (its so hard to get a good picture of them together!)

  • rolled from his back to tummy all by himself while at his Meme and Papaw's house on 3/19... still not rolling over all the time but it won't be long.
  • loves tummy time - especially naked tummy time!

  • handled his first night away from Mommy like a pro! Mommy went to an Extraordinary Women conference with Aunt Tiffaney and Aunt Keala on 3/26-3/27 in Greenville while Coleton and Daddy took care of each other at home.
  • has started playing in his new exersaucer. Because he is small, he needs to be propped up in the seat, but he loves playing with all the toys while standing up.

  • is mostly breastfed, but receives one bottle of formula during the middle of the night. He got his first bottle of formula on the night of 3/28. I am so thankful that he was able to be exclusively breast fed for 4 months!
  • has started putting his hands on his bottle when you feed him. He must think he's a big boy. ~sigh~

  • likes having rice cereal, either in his bottle or while being spoon-fed. But be careful if feeding him - he loves to grab the spoon!
  • loves bath time so much that it pretty much requires a wet suit for the washers. Watch out for those little legs and arms - they make BIG splashes!
  • enjoys riding in his stroller or going for walks in the carrier

And just to be fair, Coleton does not like:
  • taking naps (we're lucky if he makes it to 30 minutes)
  • being in the car seat, especially being in the backseat by himself...unless it's nap time. Coleton loves riding in his Daddy's truck because his car seat sits next to Daddy!
  • burping halfway through a bottle. He will poke out and curl his lip, and then cry as if you've physically hurt him until you let him finish his bottle! That boy loves to eat!
Coleton, you are such a blessing! You really are a happy and good baby! You handle being around new people well, don't mind being passed around so all your loved ones can hold you, and pretty much smile and flirt with any girl that looks your way! You have the best laugh and Daddy knows just where your tickle spots are. We thank God daily that he chose us to be your parents. We love you SO much!!
