Like Father...

...like son?! Hopefully, in the case of chronic ear infections, not. But alas, we found out today that little man has double ear infections. Double. Ear. Infections.

So, yesterday Coleton was sent home with a fever of about 102. We got home, gave him some tylenol, and I loved on him while he slept. And then the storm, aka mini hurricane, started. I was terrified that a tree in our backyard was going to land on the house or a tornado was headed our way.

Then the power went out! I could handle a hot house without AC, but I wasn't about to force my sweet boy to suffer...especially when his fever was lingering around 102 with tylenol in his system. We wrapped some cool wash cloths around his neck and thighs and then Clif and I attempted to pack the essentials, everything we could possibly need for the night. Wish I had taken a picture of the packed car. Imagine 2 adults, 1 baby in car seat, 2 large dogs, a pack-n-play, diaper bag, men's suit, and humidifier all crammed into the Edge. Hilarious!

Today though Coleton is better now that he has some fabulous $60 antibiotic in him. Today was the 4th time in 5 weeks that we've seen Dr. Cope/Uncle Bruce (which we're gonna start calling him if this keeps up). Funny enough - we go back in a week for Coleton's 6 month well check-up! Praying that my sweet boy does not get the ear infection gene from his Daddy!

Bronchitis

Little man developed a rough cough over the weekend, especially yesterday (but seemed to enjoy his first Easter despite it). After a phone call today to the nurses line, Clif took him to see Dr. Cope. Coleton has been diagnosed with mild bronchitis and was given a breathing treatment in the office (without much success). Basically we were told to play the wait it out game...easy enough to say when its not your child who sounds like he's coughing up a lung.

*Update on 5/13/11: After a 2nd trip to the doctor two weeks later, Coleton was still coughing frequently but appeared to be getting better (according to Dr. Cope). Today he still has a cough, but it doesn't sound as bad and isn't as frequent. Still playing the waiting game though!

A not so good first

Last night was ROUGH with very little sleeping and lots of tears...until we put Coleton in his swing. Of course, I didn't think anything of it. We thought he might have gas, so we gave him some gas drops and prayed that was the solution. When that didn't work, we tried the swing (finally at 3 am). - which worked!

This morning, or rather later this morning, Coleton had a low fever and was sent home from the CDC. Mommy immediately called the pediatrician and wouldn't you know...his right ear is infected. But now he is resting and is on Amoxicillin for 10 days. Praying that he doesn't take after his Daddy and have chronic ear infections!
